How to Compare Loan Offers
A better loan is not always the one with the lowest headline rate. The real comparison should include APR, fees, term length, payment size, and total repayment cost.
Compare these items first
- APR and stated interest rate.
- Upfront, monthly, and hidden fees.
- Loan term and repayment frequency.
- Total amount repaid over the full term.
When a cheaper loan is not cheaper
A short loan with a low interest rate can still be more expensive if its fees are high. Likewise, a longer loan may feel easier monthly but cost more in total.
That is why you should compare using the same loan amount and the same time horizon.
Next step
Open the APR calculator and test each offer with identical assumptions so the comparison is fair.
